چکیده

Abstract We present Galaxy Line Emission & Absorption Modeling ( gleam ), a Python tool for fitting Gaussian models to emission and absorption lines in large samples of 1D extragalactic spectra. is tailored work well batch mode without much human interaction. With , users can uniformly process variety spectra, including galaxies active galactic nuclei, wide range instrument setups signal-to-noise regimes. also takes advantage multiprocessing capabilities spectra parallel. the goal enabling reproducible workflows its users, employs small number input files, central, user-friendly configuration which constraints be defined groups overrides specified edge cases. For each spectrum, produces table containing measurements error bars detected spectral continuum upper limits nondetections. visual inspection publishing, produce plots data with fitted overlaid. In paper, we describe ’s main features, necessary inputs, expected outputs, some example applications, thorough tests on sample optical/infrared multi-object spectroscopic observations integral field data. developed as an open-source project hosted at https://github.com/multiwavelength/gleam welcomes community contributions.

The SAURON project - VII . Integral - field absorption and emission - line kinematics of 24 spiral galaxy bulges

We present observations of the stellar and gas kinematics for a representative sample of 24 Sa galaxies obtained with our custom-built integral-field spectrograph SAURON operating on the William Herschel Telescope. The data have been homogeneously reduced and analysed by means of a dedicated pipeline. All resulting datacubes were spatially binned to a minimum mean signal-to-noise ratio of 60 pe...

Ultraviolet Quasar Absorption Line Spectroscopy of z ∼ 1 Galaxy Group

We used ultraviolet spectra from HST/STIS (R = 30, 000), together with optical spectra from Keck/HIRES (R = 45, 000), to study the three MgII-selected absorption systems at z = 0.9254, 0.9276, and 0.9342 toward the quasar PG 1206 + 459. A multi-phase gaseous structure, with low-ionization components produced in small condensations and high-ionization ones in diffuse clouds, is indicated in all ...

SDSS-IV eBOSS emission-line galaxy pilot survey

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV extended Baryonic Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (SDSS-IV/eBOSS) will observe 195 000 emission-line galaxies (ELGs) to measure the baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) standard ruler at redshift 0.9. To test different ELG selection algorithms, 9000 spectra were observed with the SDSS spectrograph as a pilot survey based on data from several imaging surveys. Firs...

An Infrared Emission Line Galaxy at z = 2 . 43

An object discovered during an infrared survey of the field near the quasar B2 0149+33 has an emission line at 2.25μm that we interpret as Hα at a redshift of 2.43. The K-band image shows two compact components 10 kpc apart surrounded by more extended emission over ∼ 20 kpc. The Hα emission appears to be extended over ∼ 15 kpc (2) in a coarsely sampled (0. 8/pixel) image. The star formation rat...

JournalThe extended emission line region of the Seyfert galaxy

We present the results of observations of the extended emission-line region of the Seyfert 2 galaxy Mrk 573, obtained using the WFPC2 camera on board HST and the TIGER integral eld spectrograph on the Canada France Hawaii Telescope. The WFPC2 observations consist of a set of narrow-band linear ramp lter images in the O iii]5007 and H + N ii]6583 lines, as well as continuum and other emission-li...
